simultaneous proxies with san mode
Hello,
is it possible to have multiple proxies in SAN mode access the same FC storage simultaneously with B&r 8?
I know that it is possible to set up several proxies with direct SAN access.
But would those proxies actually read simultaneously from the same LUN on the same storage system (HP 3PAR)?
Or would the first proxy block the next on trying to read data??
Regards

Hi. Yes, they will read from the same LUN simultaneously. Thanks!

Re: simultaneous proxies with san mode
Just as a reminder, VMFS volumes (and also NFS) are cluster-aware file systems, so they allow cuncurrent access to the same volumes from multiple servers. Veeam proxies act as an ESXi server would do. Locks happen only on write operations, not during reads.

Thanks for your confirmation.
I changed my Setup accordingly, now works with two simultanbeous SAN-mode proxies.
No issues until now.

[MERGED] SAN Level backup on multiple Proxies - VMFS Mount
In the past I've always had a SAN (fiber channel) level Veeam proxy that had all of the VMFS volumes mapped to it.
Due to growth, I also want to grow the number of SAN level proxy's that are available.
My question that really want to make sure of is, can I map the same VMFS volumes to multiple SAN level Veeam proxies? I assume yes... but just want to make sure.
Thanks,
Matt

Matt, your assumption is correct. This is totally possible, please see the reasoning above. Thanks.
