Moving old backups to another disk

Post by jp1 »

I have a couple backup and backup copy jobs for VM's that have been decommissioned. I could really use the space in my repository that they are currently taking up. What is the correct procedure to move those jobs to another disk and remove the jobs from appearing in Veeam? Is it simple as moving the folders and files to another disk and then removing the jobs from Veeam?

If I ever need the jobs to do an emergency restore, I would just import the job back into Veeam.

Hi,

All you need to do is just to disable and remove your backup/backup copy jobs and delete them. After that you can manually copy all backup chains to any storage of your choice and import them back in case of emergency. Original backup chains can be removed from repository by clicking on "Delete from disk" in a drop-down list of options.

Thank you.

And then if you wish, you can map the backup files to a new job, so it will just continue the chain.
Here is a related topic of how to change the destination repository.
