Wasted tapes after failed jobs

Post by Strecker25 »

So we're having major issues writing to tape which I've opened cases for and we're trying to fix, but another side issues comes up as a result

When a job fails, we have 2 or 3 tapes that have the data from the failed job still on them. Does Veeam know to repurpose those tapes? I feel like we're wasting a ton of tape space because failed jobs are left on tape and in an unusable state. We also have a few tapes with data on them that show as never expiring, even though our media pools have a 36 month retention period

Yep, it does. Those tapes should not have any retention period assigned to them and should be re-used during one of the next job cycles.

This is known issue that will be addressed in Update 1.

Thanks.

Good to know, I hope it also resolves the tape erase errors we now receive with v9

When can we expect this patch?
