Update 1 9.0.0.1491 final Version / Changelog?

Post by hoFFy »

Hello,

I just updated 4 installations with Update 1 and had no problems. One thing I came across was our own VBR server which ran under 9.0.0.773 RTM, Update 1 requires 9.0.0.902 GA... I had to reinstall VBR with the GA release to install the update.

Will 9.0.0.1491 be the final version, or did you came across other bugs which will be implemented in the final Update 1?

Is it possible to already release the changelog? I would like to write an article on my blog about it, and the supporter told me to ask in the forum to get a statement from the product management
Or do I need to become a Veeam Vanguard first  8)

P.S.: there have been no issues during setup, one VBR server needed a restart after installation, he was not able to update the tape server components, but on all installation the patch resolved bug 67278 "standalone drives job sends email notification about waiting tape, however there is an available tape in drive"

I know that it is in the pilot stage... if it would be generally available I would not have to ask

Okay, I'll begin to write and complete the article with the information available at the release date.

Yes, you should :D

I will be working on the release notes this week, still waiting for QC to provide the required info.

I read your notes about Veeam Vanguards and already thought about it, but I believe I have to do a little bit more than working every day at several VBR servers, telling all customers how great the product is and start blogging about it / contributing in the forum. Maybe next year?!
What do you think?

I think you just need to start somewhere. As you already have passion for Veeam, little things like helping others here in the forums, blogging, attending Veeam User groups, all helps.

But remember, becoming a vanguard is not the goal, it's "just" an award for what you will do just because you like to do it.

Thanks Luca.
To clarify: this has never been my goal, I just read in Antons latest forum digest about it. My passion for Veeam started much earlier.
I'll just continue where I began and who knows where this ends

I wouldn't class myself as a Veeam expert, but I helped on the forums (where I could) , blogged a little, was active on social media etc, and was lucky enough to have been awarded Vanguard status. As Lucas says you have to start somewhere, and it is nice when the effort you put it is recognised...... as they say in Scotland 'shy bairns don't get any sweeties' meaning, if you don't ask, you don't get. Go on , submit your Vanguard nomination , you've nothing to lose and loads to gain.

Is there any improvement on display scaling? I believe in one earlier post it was mentioned there would be an update on this.

Yes, but don't expect this update soon. We are talking more like a major release or two away, as high DPI support requires rewriting the entire UI to a modern UI framework which actually supports DPI scaling.
