Name sorting wrong in VBR 9.x ...

Post by Didi7 »

Name sorting in VBR 9.x under 'Files => Microsoft Windows' is not properly. Is this pure intention, as this wasn't the case in VBR 8.x ?

Hi,

Could you provide a screenshot or a more definitive description on the issue please?

Thank you.

My assumption is that they appear in the same order they were added to the console. Seems there's no sorting at all in this view.

Hello foggy,

look at the Description and you can see, when those Windows server were added. In VBR 8.x the sorting is properly.

Yep, my assumption is incorrect. ;) Anyway, we've already asked devs to look into why there's no ability to sort in this list. Thanks for the heads up.

Similar issue under Storage Infrastructure with SAN LUN's not being sorted in the left pane at all too. We've just added xxxxxx_LUN4 and the sort order in the left pane is now

xxxxx_LUN1
xxxxx_LUN2
xxxxx_LUN4
xxxxx_LUN3

No real issue but annoying none the less. I'm guessing this probably happens in other places too

It happens in other places as well ...

tape-f29/tape-infrastructure-media-pool ... ml#p189424

... but I am still waiting for a confirmation from 'v.Eremin' as he cannot reproduce the bug, though I am quite sure, he forgot to close and restart VBR. It is very sensitive under Tape Infrastructure. If you change the beginning or shorten the name of the Media Pool, it might get sorted properly, as it was in my case but using those 12 Media Pool names together with the default Free media pool name results in the screenshot I posted and there you can clearly see this bug and I also mentioned that this bug happened in the first installation as well, as in the meantime, I had to re-install the complete VBR-server including OS, because of some stupid software intallation bugs of a QLogic Fibre Channel HBA software.

This was reported over 3 years ago. Was this ever fixed?
