We have support case 01765358 open for this.
Our backups from ExaGrid to tape are frequently failing with this message "BackupSrvFileToTape failed read: End of file Unable to retrieve next block transmission command."
Curious if anyone else is having this. We were seeing this occasionally before but it seems to have gotten very frequent after a recent ExaGrid update (4.8 P26 I think). We also have a ticket open to them.

Re: ExaGrid to tape failing frequently (9.0 U1)
Hello Adept,
The mentioned error is usually related to unstable network connection.
Does the error message include Number of already processed blocks: [] ?
If yes, what value is usually into the brackets?
Thanks!

Re: ExaGrid to tape failing frequently (9.0 U1)
Yes, it does include the number of already processed blocks. However, this number will vary a lot though and does not seem consistent. It's happening in several different offices (Australia, Japan, Hong Kong), and the ExaGrid and tape server are on the same LAN, both connected at 1G. Definitely nothing wrong with the network itself. We're going to upgrade the firmware on the ExaGrids again today and see if that makes any difference.

I was just curious if the number of processed blocks is equal to 0 or not.
