Vsphere Problem after restart.

Post by hoang1089 »

Hi ALL,

I have a issue when I restart server running vsphere.

After restart server, some VMware host back to old version. I do not run snapshot on any VMware, just use Veeam to backup all data.
It's mean when before restart a doing to Z thing, but after restart the VMware back to A thing that I did before.

So everytime it happen, I must restore using Veeam.

Anyone know about my issue. I take hours to restore Vmware, my boss doesn't like this :(

I'm wondering whether you mean VMware host that VMs are running on or VMs themselves. Thanks.

Which type of VMs are we talking about? Any specific application or database?

Also what do you see getting reversed within the VMs?

Hi

It happen inside VMs. My VMs running Centos 6.5. After turn off server and start again, database and configure revert to old. I don't create any snapshots for thoses VMs. The Hard Disk is default configuration( Dependent, don't tick on independent mode)

After turn off server and start again, database and configure revert to old
So, only part of VM (supposedly application data) gets reverted, doesn't it? If so, it's most likely the problem is specific to application not to virtualization platform - you'd get the similar results if you just reset VM.

It stands to reason to double check with application vendor how its application should be stopped gracefully.

Thanks.

Not at all, I meant anything were revert.
My VM running CentOS. I also install some tools on it but after restart it lost . So It's likely you use snapshot to back the basic install

Thanks

Hi I just said I do not run snapshot on any VMware.
So normally when I turn off server and turn on server. Server must be the same status before I turn off.
I do not know why It's different after I restart server(last time I need turn off server to update RAM)

Thanks

Hi I just said I do not run snapshot on any VMware.
It was not clear which particular snapshot you meant, as there could be a VM snapshot taken via vSphere Manager and volume shapshot taken inside operating system. Thus, I decided to double check

Anyway, I'm along the same line with Niels in recommending reaching the support team directly.

Thanks.

While you're investigating this issue with a technical support engineer, please look through the event tasks and event log for this VM (in vSphere Client), might shed some light on this.
