Virtual Disk size is not a multiple of 1KB

Post by deod »

Hello,

This is really frustrating for us. For the last week our backups aren't working well and we are unable to backup our 2010 Exchange mailbox server hosted on a Vmware.
We used Veeam ver 7 and support asked us to upgrade to Ver 8 with the latest patch. We did that and now our Mailbox server fails to run the job with the following error:
Virtual Disk zies is not a multiple of 1KB.
We have included Vmware as well as Veeam support however no solution in the future. This is a big issue for us and puts our business in a risky situation.

Any assistance will be appreciated,

Hello. As far as I remember, this issue only happens on VMs created with P2V process using a P2V tool that does not follow the VMDK format requirements. This check was added because it appeared that such disks cannot be processed reliably.

I am sure our support will be able to provide you with instructions on how to increase the virtual disk size to the correct size.

Thanks!

The procedure to increase the size of RAW device (mentioned by Alexander) has been written by VMware itself. If you're not sure how safe or risky it is, feel free to reach their support directly and let them assist you in that process. Thanks.

You can ask VMware for the reasons of why this VM disks got that "fractional" size initially.
