Feature Request - MultiTenancy in Enterprise Manager

Hi,

We are cloud solution service providers and currently looking for backup solution for our cloud VM's.
When we tested Veeam we were very impressed by the product, however, one of the things that we are looking for is missing from your product, which is RBAC.
We need that feature so we can publish the access to Enterprise Manager over the wan, create specific accounts based on our customers, so when customer A will log in, he will see only his own VM's and will be able to backup\restore it and won't be able to see other customers VM's.

In simple words: Multi-Tenancy.
Every customer will have it's own instance inside Enterprise Manager.

Is this something that is possible with Veeam?

It seems that this is something you are looking for.

For now there is no such functionality available, unless you’re willing to deploy separate EM for each of the customers.

However, kindly review the link provided above and see whether the next release is likely to meet your expectations.

I review the new 1-Click restore and it does look like something that might work, however, we will need to wait until the product will be out to fully test it.
If it will not answer the multi-tenancy needs, is it something that you might include in future releases?
Providing multitenancy will surely give another boost to the product from Cloud Providers point of view.

Hi Tomer,

As a service provider don't you already have some existing web UI for customers to use for managing their deployment with you (e.g. adding new VMs, reconfiguring existing etc). Would not it make more sense to enable them to manage backup and restores right in the same UI, instead of having to go to some other UI specifically for that purpose?

Hi Gostev,

Yes, you are right with your assumption. We are using Parallels Automation for provisioning services and each customer have its own CP where he manage his own resources.
The ideal part is to have complete integration between the systems, so users will be able to manage their VM's and their backup from the same panel, however, most 3rd parties softwares don't have such functionality enabled.
In this case the management and the integration is done on 2 phases: Provisioning and Billing integration and Customers CP.
For example we can take BackupAgent or Ahsay: Customers are buying backup resources from the CP, an API calls are being transferred to the Backup engine which in turns create an instance for each customer with specific resources.
On the customer CP there will be an Entry link for the Backup Panel (external UI) and from there the customers will manage their backups.
New resources will be created from CP.
