[SOLVED] VBR 9.5, cannot add cluster VMs from CSV to backup

Post by jazzoberoi »

Hi,

Quick background.

Veeam B&R Server (9.5) is virtual. Guest OS is Win 2016 Datacenter
Veeam Repo & Proxy Server is Physical. OS is Win 2016 Datacenter

Prod environment consists of a Hyper-V Cluster with 2 nodes both on Windows 2012 R2.
All the production VM's are Windows 2012 R2
The Hyper-V Nodes save their VM's on a CSV connected to 3Par San.

When i try to create a backup job and add the VM's to backup i get the following error :

Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Image

It all used to work before when Veeam was at version 9.0 Upd2 installed on a physical server (2012 R2) which was also the OffHost proxy and Repository server.

Because of the error above, i cannot backup any VM's and my environment is unprotected !

Case id is 01980773 and appropriate logs have been uploaded.

PLEASE HELP !!

For those who have the same problem "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" check that forward AND reverse DNS works correctly.

Hi All,

Just to let you know that this issue has been resolved.

Kudos to VEEAM support who called me within 30 minutes of logging a ticket and helped me troubleshoot the issue.

In my case, the issue was that the Reverse DNS for my Hyper-V Hosts were pointing to the Old hosts server names (which had the same ip address as the new hosts)
