No backup set available on tape

Post by rreed »

Morning, all. Trying to restore some files (File to Tape) from tape; I have my tapes loaded, I can look at Properties, see my file(s), great. In the Files, Tape view the icon is a torn piece of paper, and if I try to pick Files from Tape Restore here, add my file, under Backup Set is says "No backup set available on tape." What does this mean and how can I get my files off my tapes please?

Has the said file been archived to tapes once or several times? Thanks.

It's pretty big so I think it spans a few tapes? A valid question since I know some other files have been accidentally in our environment. This particular one I'm fairly sure hasn't, but is there a way I can verify that please?

Backup Set option allows you to choose version of a file you want to restore in case a file has been archived several times. Thus, the absence of it in your case = said file has been backed up only once. Thanks.

Okay, great. So it says backup set not available, even though I'm looking right at my file I need on my tape(s). How do I get it back please?

Hmm, in the case I've described a tab should show one backup set.

Seems like a good time to reach out our support team.

Thanks.

Has this issue been resolved? I have the same issue with a VBK from 2014 that I can see under properties/files, I've inventoried, and cataloged the tape and it still gives the same error, clicking 'backup' (it no longer says 'backup set'. v9.5) shows blank

Thanks

So still a bug I assume?
I'd really like to see Veeam get fully mature with their Tape backup...Ideally we should be able to go to properties/file and right click the file we want and click restore to.

We were not able to confirm whether the issue existed in the first place, because no one has provided us with support ticket ID and logs to investigate.

If you're seeing the exact same problem, kindly, reach our support team directly for further investigation.

Thanks.
