Log Shipping Server - used or not?

Post by sta-bitbw »

Hello all,

my SQL Transaction Log Backup is running successfully. Still there is one issue open:
I suspect the backup is using a log shipping server - but I'd like the server to write directly to the repository (Data Domain appliance) and avoid the log shipping server.

Documentation states Veeam decides by itself if log shipping server is used. My questions:
- What criteria does Veeam use for this decision? How can I assure direct connection to repository is selected?
- In which Veeam logs/traces can I see if log shipping server or direct connection is selected?

Thanks very much,
Thomas.

Hi Thomas, basically, direct connection is always used if available (even if log shipping server is configured), i.e. repository is accessible from the VM via network. I'm not sure this information is logged in the job session log, but it's definitely in the debug log.

Is there a way to check on the VM if this requirement
repository is accessible from the VM via network
is met?

Thank you,
Thomas.

Try to open the repository folder from the VM under the account used to add repository into Veeam B&R console.
