Veeam One can and can't?

Post by Iain_Green »

Hi,

Hoping you can save me a lot of trawling through user guides and Googling!

Been asked to compare Veeam one vs another product. The product I am comparing is a fully fledged system and is highly configurable, we also use Veeam one (it was free!) but we don't take full advantage of.
I have been asked to look at what we can pull from our other system and just let Veeam one Monitor it.

So I pulled out all the different types of monitoring we use in the current system and want to know what can be replicated in Veeam One.

Basically I need to know can Veeam One monitor the following:
  • Active Directory Server Probe
    Active Directory Event Probe
    Clusters
    Files and Directory Checking
    Monitor Exchange Server
    Log Monitoring Probe
    Monitor Network Connectivity
    Windows NT Event Log
    Windows Services
    Process Monitoring
    Microsoft SharePoint
    SNMP-TRAP Daemon
    SQL response & Server
    URL Response times

Also if they are not currently but are on a road map please also stipulate (I know i'm asking a lot!).

Appreciate any and all responses.

Thanks

Iain
Many thanks

Hi Iain,
Veeam ONE monitors clusters and networks, collects all events from vSphere/Hyper-V, provides process monitoring, SNMP traps.
However it doesn`t have anything AD/Exchange/SQL/Sharepoint-specific, URL Response times, Files and Directory Checking yet.
We are planning to add some of the features you mentioned in the next release.
More feedback we have about the specific feature, faster it`s implemented.
Thanks!

Many thanks for the update, could you clarify process monitoring this at VM or Host level?

Service monitoring is a big one. Many of our customers require this for their application they need to know when a service has changed state. These range from SQL, Exchange 3rd party applications.
Customers all host numerous webpages with us and need to be alerted if they start seeing slow loading speeds.
SQL/Exchange/SharePoint and Active Directory we have numerous customers requesting a range of monitoring.
Many thanks

As I wrote in the parallel thread services monitoring is not supported yet although it`s pretty high in our "to do list". Process monitoring is already supported.
Indeed service monitoring is frequently asked by our customers, URL Response time is less popular, but thanks for mentioning it in your feedback!
