Backup Repositories with Rotated Drives

No, you just swap the drives, you do not need to edit the job since the repository still points to the same destination path (in a rotated drives scenario, only physical drive is changed, while logical path is preserved).

when we set retention policy = 3 and 2of backup file is on external disk1 and 1of backup file is on external disk2
now i want to know how it calculate retention policy 3
1 - add 2backups on external disk1+ 1backup on external disk2 ?
2 - or retention policy 3 here calculate separate for each external disk 3 backup on external disk1 and 3backup n external disk2 ?

It depends on the job type: in case of the regular backup job, retention value is the total number of restore points on each of the drives, while for the backup copy job the specified number of restore points is maintained on each of the drives (in case of Windows repository).
