will VBR version 10 support backup/replication of for instance DellEMC VNXe SMB/CIFS volumes ?

Hi Johnny, yes, the release containing this feature will be able to backup CIFS shares. It is currently not decided whether it will be called v10 or some update to v9.5, since our approach to releases has slightly changed. You can read some details here.
