Standard Credentials Failing

Post by samko »

I am having an issue with getting standard credentials to work when setting up application aware processing. Current setup: domain joined servers, including veeam server.
I am unable to get domain admin credentials to work. Here is what I have tried:

domain\domain admin account - Fails
domain\administrator - fails
localcomputer\local admin account - fails
localcomputer\administrator - success

I have verified that UAC is turned off on the servers but still not working. I really don't want to have to setup local admin accounts for all servers and then manage in veeam as well. Any thoughts of what could be causing this?

Hi Sampson,

Double check that you domain admins were added to local admin group on this VM.

They were added. I even added to the backup users group on the servers.

Sampson,

Can you open admin share of the said VM with the domain admin account from the VBR server?

Yes. I log on with the account directly and this works. Think I may have found something, stand by

ok so the domain name when logging on to a server is actually too long so the last let is always cut off. So, when I added the account info in veeam I never removed the last letter. Just tried this and it worked for the domain account named "administrator" All test past. However the new issue, is that when I use the account I specifically created for veeam (yes its a domain admin) is not working gives me an error "could not upload file to admin share"

How long is "too long"? My domain name is 15 letters.

I have the identical situation, tried the same combinations, to no avail.
I get a warning on the Checking Standard Credentials, and failures on the two vix tests.
Win2012R2 for both the backup and target (SQL) servers. ESXi 6.0 and VBR 9.5.
I also made this registry adjustment:
"For 2012/2012 R2, you must change the “EnableLUA” DWORD to 0 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system"

Hi,
I have a similar problem as well, although I can use local admin' on Windows 2008R2sp1 and it works. My fear is that I will lose rich NTFS share rights when performing a restore. Would that be the case?
