Microsoft SQL Failover Cluster Protection Group

Post by csmall »

When attempting to create a new protection group for a SQL server failover cluster, testing the credentials fails with the error:

Code: Select all

Checking Windows credentials Error: RPC connection failed
I have ruled out firewalls and services running on the nodes in the cluster. I see no network issues that would prevent them communicating properly.

The account being used is a local admin on the sql cluster nodes. I also tried using a domain admin account to rule out permissions.

The protection group is pointed at the SQL cluster name object in AD per the Veeam documentation.

I have a support case open with Veeam and they want to collect logs but maybe someone here has already run into this?

Hello Colin.

Looks like your configuration is correct, so please let support team investigate your debug logs and share you case ID for future reference. Thanks.

This was human error. The object that was selected in AD was not the correct object for the cluster.
