Ultra slow boot from Recovery Media (USB)
Hi,
Recovery Media on an USB stick takes 3 to 4 minutes to boot.
My system:
Win10 1803 pro on a Medion Erazer Laptop X7853, i7-7700HQ, 32GB RAM, evo97pro SSD, GTX1070 NVIDIA, USB 3.0
The Recovery Media is on a Kingston DT HyperX USB 3.0 stick UEFI-boot
Veeam Agent for Windows 2.2.0.589 free
Booting takes up to 4 minutes until the first menu appears. I checked legacy boot with the same result. Similar times for booting were observed with another notebook in UEFI mode, no legacy MBR boot was available. I formatted the same USB stick again and put a winPE on it. WinPE took just seconds to boot.
So my question is if I did something wrong when creating the Veeam Recovery Media. When browsing this forum I noticed one thread with a similar problem as a sidenote.
Greetings

Re: Ultra slow boot from Recovery Media (USB)
Hello,
this is too long from my experience. I cannot see anything you could do wrong during recovery media creation.
I suggest contacting support and post the case number here (even with free version, you have support).
It should not make a big difference, but Veeam uses WinRE - not WinPE
Best regards,
Hannes

Hi,
so I tried to put winRE on the stick - and it boots within 20 seconds. I think I can exclude:
.) a faulty USB stick
.) a faulty USB connector / mainboard
please tell me if and what further information I can possibly provide.
Many thanks for your assistance.

pj1220,
Please keep working with our support team, as they might find the root cause in the application debug logs. Thank you in advance!

Re: Ultra slow boot from Recovery Media (USB)
Hi everyone,
I am more than pleased to tell you that my problem is solved. Updating to version 3.0.0.748 of Veeam Agent for MS Windows did the trick: Now it only takes 55 seconds from power on to the screen where one can start the bare metal recovery. A big Thank You goes to Nikolay who was supportive to the highest standards.
So in a nutshell -> thank you, problem solved, case closed
Greetings
Peter
