I am having a dilemma understanding between the relationship of a Daily Backup Change Rate as compared to a Yearly Backup Change Rate.
Currently I have a situation whereby one of my customer has an estimated 1.5% Daily Change Rate, and they would like to backup some data for the next 3 years. By simple multiplications I was able to determine the size of backups for the next 3 years.
Daily -> 1.5%
Monthly -> 1.5% x 30 Days = 45%
Yearly -> 45% x 12 Months = 540 %
3 Years -> 540% x 3 Years = 1,620 %
This is what it would look like by the end of 3 years. Which I think the size is humongous & a little unrealistic. Would the above calculation be valid?
Whereby there are some instances where I see requirements having 5% Daily Change Rate and 20% Yearly change rate at the same time. How does the above correlate with my calculations earlier ?
Appreciate anyone's kind explanation on this, and as always thanks in advance !
