Hi,
since we updated Veeam B&R to version 9.6.5.2615 we noticed problems with the 'Veeam Hyper-V Integration Service' on our cluster nodes.
The service ist down on both Hypervisors and can't be started. We get an error message: 'Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion'.
The VMs don't appear when I try to rescan the clustered VMs on the nodes.
Even a restart of the a node doesn't bring the services up. We also have 3 standalone hypervisors which backing up their VMs like a charm.
We also tried reinstalling the update iso file (repair option).
Is it possible to just reinstall the Veeam Hyper-V Integration Service on the hosts? Data Mover and Installer service are running.

Re: Veeam service problems after update
Hi Jonathan,
You can install the services manually. Copy the following 4 files from the installation folder (C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Packages):
- VeeamTransport.msi
- VeeamHvIntegration.msi
- VeeamDeploymentSvc.exe
- VeeamDeploymentDll.dll
Follow the steps and afterwards run services.msc to see if they are running.
However, I can't tell if the timeout message will be resolved by doing a re-install therefor I do suggest to contact support.

Hi Niels,
Thank you for your fast response.
Is it possible to install the packages on a Windows Nano installion, too? I only have the option to install via Powershell.

Since Nano server is supported for creating on-host backups of VMs running on this server, it should be possible to install all the required components there.

Jonathan,
Nano server is indeed supported but you can't use the MSI and EXE versions. You will actually need to deploy it (the way solutions are being installed on Nano is different as on a regular Windows server...)
That said, a few years ago Microsoft has decided to use Nano server as a container OS only, my advice at this moment would not be to use it as a Hyper-V host to be honest.
