GUI not rendering correctly. Former jobs not showing

Post by joedk »

Hello forum

I'm having a strange problem with Veeam Agent V3.0.0.748 running on Windows 10 Pro. V1809.
The computer is brand new, and I just installed the Veeam Agent.

I am able to create recovery media and create a backupjob. I can also start the backup job and I see that it is running (from the tray-icon) but I cannot see in the GUI that it is running, also the GUI says "not started", even though the "Veeam Agent"-service is running.

When starting the backup, the "backup now" button is greyed out, and I can see from the tray-icon that it is in fact running. After finishing it does not display in the GUI. I have tried reinstalling, but with no difference... Also tried to install Veeam Agent 2.2.0.589. Here I can create the job and run it, but I can't see or edit it afterwards...

Here's a screenshot of the GUI as it looks when the backup is running. Before this it has been running for a couple of days, so it should show some history...

Thanks in advance.

Joe

Hello and welcome to the community Joe,

Can you open the menu (top left corner), point to the backup job in the list and click 'backup' from the drop down menu? Can you start recovery via the mentioned menu? Thanks!

Thank you.

I am able to start the backup from the drop down menu like you describe.

I am also able to recover file or volume https://www.dropbox.com/s/jc0a6nbfootv9 ... 1.png?dl=0

What happens if you click the backup job in the menu? Do you see the correct information in the control panel or it remains blank? Thanks!

When I click the backupjob in the menu, all I see is the half-blank GUI: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6hkv24yqfmvlf ... 2.png?dl=0

joedk,

Sorry for keeping silence. To be honest it looks like UI glitch, any chance you have a case ID to share? Thank you!

joedk,

Open Veeam Agent Control Panel, click menu and select Support. Click Technical support to submit a case (you will need to type in your email address and confirm the registration by clicking the link in the auto generated email). Let me know how it goes, cheers!

I noticed this on my Agent at home as well. Part of the language was set to Danish which Veeam Agent didn't like (Think it was the formating)

The log under ProgramData for my user was spamming the same error message over and over)

My entire system would lag and stutter when hovering my cursor over the Veeam Agent Window.

Yes, this was the KB i found :)

Though I still experience my mouse stuttering when hovering over the Veeam Agent, but I can now see everything in the interface.

Old thread but I just encountered this issue in version 5.0.0.4301.

Case ID : 04861992

Was solved by following this KB: https://www.veeam.com/kb2302 however I found the KB after creating the case, so I have closed the case shortly after creating it, so support never had a chance to look at it, but logs are there if needed.

Hello Thomas,

This issue is mainly related to .Net compatibility with the Windows culture, so I am afraid there is nothing we can do from the Veeam Agent for Windows perspective. Glad to hear that KB workaround works for your case too, thank you for sharing!

I never had this issue with the 4.x version but it showed up now with the 5.x version. It also pains me that I found this thread first now after doing two reinstalls of my computer including multiple clean installs of the software to rule out any issues with my newly built computer, and also installing Backup & Replication on my server to rule out a local bug with NAS storage.
There must be a way to work around and create a fix for this. For example a check in the program where it checks what regional settings you have in the computer and provide information to the user to do extra configuration on their computer.
