[RESOLVED] Slow B&R console

Post by ejenner »

Anyone else ever seen problems with a slow console for Backup and Replication?

It seemed to start around the time I updated to Update 4. But I don't want to blame it on that specifically.

The server itself seems to be running ok. Performance monitor looks fine.

If I want to do something like cloning a job it will take about a minute for the cloned job to appear. Opening the console takes minutes.

Is there any potential issue with having too many job definitions? I've got 188.

Hi,

The community member above has reported similar issue, but then he found out that the antivirus software was the reason.
Can you check, maybe you're in the same situation, kind of antivirus activities slow down the console? Thanks!

The antivirus was making the server run slowly overall. But as Veeam is the only application in use on the server it appeared that Veeam had slowed down. In reality the whole sever was running slowly.

Unfortunately it's not our situation: we have disabled Sophos AV in the veeam VBR but opening the console ,running in the same VBR server, is very very slow. Previously, with upd 3, it was faster.

Please contact the support team and let them take a closer look.
Also, can you share the case ID here, so we can track it internally.

Thanks!

I noticed this too on my install ... I thought it may have been because I just updated that computer to Windows 10. I decrapified it and it still takes a few minutes to get passed the splash screen and into the console, assuming i don't get an error saying something to the effect of can't start [or find] veeam.backup.satellite

Usually a reboot will allow me to get back into the program.

Our server had multiple ips configured , and the console took 2 minutes to open
after i added all the ip adresses to the local host file with the FQDN the problem was fixed and the console opened in 20 -30 seconds

Solved Renaming C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Veeam.Backup.PublicStoragePlugin.Ibm.dll
This fixed my slow startup issue of many months (lab environment clean 95u4 install).

But can anyone tell me what this dll does & also explain why it's part of the package if it can just be disabled / removed like this? My B&R seems to operate fine without it.

I don't understand why this would drag down the GUI performance so badly...but obviously the two are linked. Will this issue be addressed in v10?

The root cause of this delay is a problem with the code signing certificate check on your end, and the associated timeout.
