Backing up large VM

Post by chg_it »

Hi all,

I have a job to backup two file servers, totalling 4TB approx. Job configuration:
Direct SAN Access
Reverse Incremental
Optimal compression
Storage target LAN optimised
Change Block Tracking

We're backing up to a QNAP NAS.

This job regularly takes over 24hrs. We DoubleTake this server to our data center for additional resilience. Could DoubleTake cause this job to take a long time?

Thanks

It's hard to say what is causing it without further details. Could you please tell what is the processing rate for this two VMs? And what is the usual VRB file size for this job?

Hi there,

I've been tweaking backups and I'm getting a better rate now. It seems that slow backups are sporadic.

I'm going to put this down to network for now and investigate internally.

Many thanks
