Direct NFS - Failed to connect to NetApp

Post by Lalegre »

I am not being able to backup using Direct NFS from my NetApp production storage because it cannot connect on Storage Ports.

If i go to the proxy i am able to see that if i do Telnet i have an intermitent connection to the NetApp even if i am on Layer2. All the ESXi are having no problems connecting to the NetApp.

Any considerations?

Thanks

Hello,
telnet does not really help for troubleshooting NFS network or permission issues. I don't speak Spanish, but two things that worked at my customers:

1) test to connect with NFSclient.exe 1.7 (really ugly tool, but if it does not throw an error message, then Veeam will work)
2) connect with the native Windows NFS

Best regards,
Hannes

Check the export policy of the Netapp storage, you need to add the Veeam Proxy Server (if you have only one server then the Backup & Replication server).

It was already said, but definitely check your export policies on the NetApp.

If you use any tools like VMWare's Site Recovery Manager, it will create a new export policy on your NetApp when you fail over and won't reassign the original export policy.

I typically give the proxy server a second nic on the same storage vlan that the esxi hosts use for their connections. Then add that secondary nic's IP to the export policy for the hosts.
