Unable to install backup agent: The user name or password is incorrect
Hi,
I ran in to the same issue as mentiored here: physical-cloud-f49/rescan-of-manually-a ... 56589.html
I disabled the group "Manually added", but the problem ist still present.
It seems to be an authentification issue or something similar. And it doesn't matter if the group is enabled or disabled.
If I go to the Inventory, right-click the group "Manually Added", go to > Properties > Computers and click on "Test now", I get no errors. Veeam is able to login to my workstation.
When I proceed this "properties-wizard" and check "Run discovery when I click finish", then Veeam isn't able to login to the workstation any more. I get the error: "Unable to install backup agent: cannot connect to 127.0.0.1 Error: The user name or password is incorrect". . But this credentials are correct, were checked successfully and the user is member of the local administrators group.
My Backup-jobs fail any time, no matter if the group is enabled or disabled.
Veeam B&R 9.5.4a is installed on my local workstation.

This issue is is not related to false positive email reporting mentioned in the thread (as report is generated due to issues with agent deployment). Any chance you have a case ID to share? Thank you!

thank you very much. That was a pointer into the right direction. It was indeed related to admin shares.

While deploying agents from Veeam B&R it's required to provide access from Veeam B&R machine to an admin share of the machine where you plan to deploy an agent (otherwise there is no way to upload the installation package), so I read that the issue was resolved by verifying that admin share is accessible from Veeam B&R server. Cheers!

Don't really understand that... What exactly is an "admin share"? I've already tried to share all the foldes; I also tried to share the whole volume...
Is an admin share something special?
I used to manage veeam for an entire domain network and lot's of VMs... Now I try to use it as backup for my home PC and fail it

\\<ComputerName>\<DiskVolumeName>$ of the machine you are about to deploy agent to.
You need to verify that Veeam B&R machine can connect to the mentioned admin share using the account set for deployment in the Protection Group (basically you can try to access it from the VBR server via regal Windows explorer and when you are prompted for a credentials, type in the account you set for the Protection Group).

The Adminshare ist \\computername\admin$
Most of the time the User Account Control prevents deployment on "localhost" so you could try to temporarily disable it.
