failed to get disk free space on CIFS repository
Hi all,
I'm attempting to use a CIFS share on a FreeBAS (FreeBSD running SAMBA) server, but when I attempt to add a repository I get the error "failed to get disk free space" and it won't let me add it. Well I say that, earlier today all of a sudden it worked, but after having run a test job to the new repository the job fails with an error about not being able to check free space on the repository and if I try and add a new repository again now its giving the same error as before.
The Veeam server is Windows 2008 R2, FreeNAS is v11 and Veeam is v9.0.0.1715.
I've found a few people with similar problems searching for the error but none with a solution that helps me. Anyone any ideas? Surely backup to SAMBA must be quite common? Hoping its something simple I can change!
thanks, Andy.

Re: failed to get disk free space on CIFS repository
Hello Andy,
Unfortunately, it’s hard to say why you got this error without application logs. If you want this issue to be investigated, kindly, open a support case and let the team check the logs. Do not forget to share the case Id in this thread for future reference.

I have found that it makes a difference if you enter "full" credentials so not admin but IP\admin, not sure it's universal, but it helped me.

Re: failed to get disk free space on CIFS repository
I checked your suggestion Michaelbrandi and it worked!
Here is something i'd like to add. If your storage is a NAS and your authenticating method is local, you need the FQDN as suggested... if it's domain joined, well, you need FQDN as well.
Hope it helps someone

Hello and welcome Beverly,
Looks right, thanks for the note! To properly browse and query the file share the recommended way is set account in servername\accountname format.
Here is the link to the original KB article for all newcomers Veeam Knowledge Base -The specified network name is no longer available.

Re: failed to get disk free space on CIFS repository
Hi,
I get the same error and i tryed both of two solution proposed
'Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\
DWORD: NetUseShareAccess = 1'
and
'I have found that it makes a difference if you enter "full" credentials so not admin but IP\admin, not sure it's universal, but it helped me'
I have Backup and Replication 9.5 update 4 - V.9.5.4.2866 and not any idea to resolve it..
I search on the web but the only solutions that I have found are here.
Any idea ?
In advance, thank you for your help

Hi Florent,
Here is a link to the full KB article. Please try out these recommendations. Also, could you let us know if you restarted the server after implementing the registry key?
Thanks
