vCenter Server 5.5 (Windows) to VCSA 6.5: new VM ID in Veeam?

Post by EBoucq »

Hello,

I was wondering if an upgrade from a Windows vCenter Server 5.5 to a VCSA 6.5 would change the ID of the VM in my Veeam jobs and therefore generate new full backups of the VMs ?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric, depends on the migration process. Native vCenter migration tools from VMware should allow for preserving the database (though the migration might require several steps).

I'll be using the vCenter installer so the database will be migrated too.

Thanks.

Then the IDs should be preserved as well, if I'm getting it corectly.
