Veeam Agent failing to send email

Hi All,

We have lots of instances of Veeam Agent for Windows out in the wild all emailing back via the same SMTP relay (Identical config). On just one of these, every few days, email notifications will stop working, the workaround so far has been to just re-enter the SMTP address or password and it'll work for another few days again. Theres no firewall getting in the way, and works from another machine on the same LAN with a matching setup. Latest version installed, 3.0.2.1170. Line that comes up in the job log is:

05/11/2019 22:44:32 :: Failed to send email notification: Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings.


Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

There's probably something different about this machine. Like it has another application on it which is also emailing and locking the resources or it is on a different switch or vLAN or something. There might be some 'malware bytes' or similar software blowing away the messaging config... it appears ok in the application but behind the scenes something has removed the configuration.

Have a look at the list of installed applications compared with the machine which is working. Is there any additional security software on the machine which has the issue.

[MERGED] Job email notifications fails

Hi,
since a couple of days (23nd of June) veeam stopped to sent job notifications out. Worked well before...
I reconfigured the SMTP settings, test email was sent successfully!
But the actual job mail after the backup fails.
Failed to send email notification: Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings.
Happens on 3 different systems...
Any ideas?

When I export the veeam setting I see that there is no password and the UserName is wrong.
This might be the reason!?
But why does the SMTP settings are not stored correctly?

And also, I see the Support case has just been opened, let's give Support a chance.

As for the username/password, just a suggestion - did you try to change the configuration right after the export and re-export your config again? Does it change anything?

nope.
Creating a new job, trying different SMTP settings...
Email wasn't sent!

I will now trying another SMTP server / provider...

OK, my SMTP provide doesn't support TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 anymore! TLS1.2 is mandatory.
Therefore veeam stopped sending out emails.
I configured the veeam SMTP setting "Use secure connection (SSL/TLS)" = checked!
Is this an veeam issue? Or do I have to reconfigure my Windows Systems?

[MERGED] No Notification Mail, but Test Mails work?!

Hi guys, strange behaviour with my Veeam Agent 5.0.0.4301....since 08.08. everything was fine with mail notifications. Then suddently no more mail came in. Also not in Spam folder. Test Mails work fine (send and receive) Win10 21H1, Mail Provider Strato. Any idea?

Strato does only support SMTP connections with TLS 1.2 or higher, so this KB article could solve your problem: https://www.veeam.com/kb2853

The KB2853 is not available now, what was the registry keys you did ? I have the same problem. I am using community version 9. I cannot upgrade.

I am using windows server 2016 and Veeam 9.5.4.2866
I have done the entries via the following link

but still I get "Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings"

My email server is from hostgator. And I am using that email on my mobile which means that settings is not an issue.

Please help.
