Replicating to ESX server

Post by Cambridge User »

Hi

We are evaluating Veeam, and need to test replication functionality. Is there any guideline to specing the target for replication? Does it have to be of identical hardware (memory, CPU etc) to work, or could we replicate to a "lesser" (and therefore cheaper) target machine for what will be our DR environment.

Many thanks in advance

Hello, you can replicate to any host that is capable of running replicated VMs in case of disaster. It does not have to be with identical hardware, because we are not doing VMotion but instead cold transactionally-consistent image start up. I know that many customers typically choose to replicate to a "lesser" hosts to reduce the cost of the solution. Thank you.
