Backup copy of deleted vms

Post by karsten123 »

Hi,

i have backuped vms before deleting from vSphere. Just to follow 3-2-1 it is coping to a offsite location with limited bandwidth and timeframe.

So i told my colleague to wait for deletion till the backup copy is completely successful.
After that i thought about it  . Am i wrong?

Is it possible to copy backups with the live vm deleted from vSphere?

Thx guys.

Hello,
I see no reason, why the VM must exist in VMware to copy something that exist within the backup infrastructure already :-)

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi Hannes,

thanks for your confirmation. These were my thoughts afterwards, too.
But in any cases: Better safe than sorry and no human was harmed :D
