Best Option for Secured Onsite and Offisite

Post by NorthGuard »

I have multiple implementations of B&R at clients and most are configured as follows:

- backup equipment on separate physical network
- B&R device just runs B&R
- storage is QNAP with QuObjects, using S3 compatibility with immutability

However, I have a couple of clients with very large data sets ( ie., 8TB+ ) and the QNAP setup isn't reliable in these scenarios.

What is the recommended implementation to keep secure local and offsite backups?

For these 2 clients, I am thinking about dropping in Linux servers acting as hardened repositories. I would then drop a hardened linux server in an offsite data center and backup copy to that.

Would that be the best option?

OR... maybe use MinIO?

Hello,

I believe that the hardened repository is a very good idea for both local and offsite backups, usually, I recommend using it whenever and wherever possible. Also, don't forget about encryption either source-side one or repository encryption for backups created by Veeam Agents operating in the standalone mode.

You may have a look at the best practices guide and this page of our user guide might be useful.

Thanks!
