Hello Veeam experts,

I've already opened a support case for this (Case ID is 05572968), but maybe someone of the guys here has an idea or has even already done it?
We have a SOBR (in fact, two, but that doesn't matter for this case) which consists of two storages connected to the a repo server.
Now, we've added an additional network interface to our VBR servers (VBR server, Proxies and Repo servers) and we'd like to route the traffic from the proxies to the repo server over this dedicated LAN to speed things up (the "old IP is still present for maintenace work, the new LAN is only for backup traffic).
So, we have to change the IP address Veeam uses to connect to the Repo servers, I've already done this with a standard repo by just adding a new repo with the new IP and changing the backup repo in the jobs.
But, how can I do this with the repos inside the SOBR? ATM, I have the following idea for this:
1. Disable all backup jobs
2. Set both repos inside the SOBR to maintenance mode
3. Add the repos as new ones with the new address of the repo server
4. Delete the "old" repos from the SOBR
5. Re-enable all backup jobs

Would this be feasible? Or is there a better way to achieve this?

I think this is a good course of action, but before you enable the jobs again, once you add the repos with new IPs to the SOBR and remove the old name/IP ones, you will want to do a rescan of the SOBR to ensure Veeam updates the database. Also, you may need to use the map backup option once you enable the jobs just to ensure it is still pointing to the correct folders (more likely, it will). Other than that everything seems good in the steps. Best of luck.

many thanks for your quick reply, you're faster than the Veeam support, . So it seems to be a feasible way, and, rescanning the repos is a good idea, thanks for the tip! I'll try it this way and update the thread when it's done (and I'll also post the reply from support, let's see what they think about it, ).

You're welcome.

I recommend to first disable all backup jobs and put the extend into maintenance mode.
Then create a configuration backup before changing the IP address. If something doesn't work, then you have a way to restore the working configuration

Hello all,

I got answer from Veeam support, and it's even more easier: You can just add another network as "preferred" for backup traffic and Veeam will use this. It's described in this KB article: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110 (thanks to Andrey Suppes from EMEA support for the tip).
I've configured this now, let's see if it reduces the traffic over the weekend, I'll post an update on Monday.

I've talked with the firewall guys, and yes, the backup traffic is no longer routed over the firewalls but directly over the stretched VLAN. So, Andreys solution works, many thanks to Veeam support and all who answered my post (or liked it, it was the "best post of the week" in last week's forum digest, ).

Hello Veeam Community,

We have Data Domain that will be moving to another location with a new IP address scheme. We are using the Data Domain for backup copies. I am having trouble understanding how to change the IP address from the VBR console since the option to change the IP is grayed out. If this helps, I am using DDBoost for communications.

It doesn’t translate perfectly to my situation but, in principle, I suspect this might be a possible option. The basic idea would be to add the Data Domain using the new IP, perform a rescan, then edit the backup copy jobs, then map the backups to the new Repo. Finally, delete the old Domain Domain Repo object from the VBR console.

Any thoughts? Has anybody changed the IP address of a Data Domain with success?
