Can't backup "Archived" "Group Sites" and "Teams.

Post by moh@dhigroup.com »

An archived "Group Site" or "Team Site" which haven't been backed up before it was archived can't be backed up. You get this error:

Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource

I have to set the status so the sites is not in archive mode, take a backup and then archive the site again.
Is that really how it should be?

Hi Morten,

Are they added to a job as site objects or teams?

Hi.
I have one job configured as:
Name: Office 365 Groups
"Back up the following objects" = selected
Type = O365 Group
Process = GroupMail/Group Site

The other job is configured as:
Name: Teams
"Back up the following objects" = selected
Type: Team
Process = All (You can't change that)

The Office 365 Groups job was created for O365/Teams backup. I could not do that in another way in Version 4.

The Teams job is a new job in Version 5. But if I only use this job I don't get backup of the mailbox and site.

Hi Morten,

Thank you for these details. Most likely there's some permissions issue, because normally archived teams can be backed up without any problems.
Can you please open a support case and share its ID here for the followup?

Morten,

Are you sure that the case ID is correct? As I can see it was closed back in 2017 :)
Please make sure to provide VBO logs to the support team.

Hi

Case from Morten was resolved by adding the "backup account as owner of the site". With Modern App-Only, you don't use backup accounts anymore. Not sure if this information will help in your case.
Therefore I recommend to open a support case your own and let our support engineers troubleshoot the logs.

HI,
We have a case, 07060830, but only solution is to add an exclusion for every archived site??!?
If Veeam is unable to backup archived site it would be better not to do it?
