Backup Proxy
Our Backup server is not internet facing, so we installed and configured a VeeAm proxy server in a vlan which has access to the internet. To my surprise i could not configure my organization as the backup server is not internet facing. Is there a way to use the VeeAm proxy as the internet facing server, or do i need to deploy a new Backup server which is internet facing (which does not align to our security framework)?

Re: Backup Proxy
Hello Jurgen
The backup server requires internet access as well. Or at least a connection to Microsoft's 365 URLs if you don't like to allow internet access to any URL. Also the machines who are doing the restores with Veeam Explorers require direct access to Microsoft 365.

You may configure a proxy server, if the backup server doesn't have internet access:

Best,
Fabian

Re: Backup Proxy
Thanks Fabian. We have added the proxy configuration, but only to bump in to the next error:
"Error: An error response was returned by the OAuth2 server, but it could not be parsed. Please inspect the exception properties for details."
I have checked the application log for the exception properties, but that does not help a lot. I doubt it is making a connection, although we see that connections are being made over the proxy server from the backup server.
We get the same error, with new registered app or use an existing registered app.
We have also used a new self signed certificate, as this will install the certificate in Azure Active Directory.

I have one question, are you doing SSL inspection on your internet proxy server?
Thank you,
Fabian
