License update - new shared mailboxes

Post by ikhan » 1 person likes this post

Recently converted shared mailboxes are still being counted as Licensed. Is there a way to force an update.

Hello ihsaan

Licenses are automatically revoked 31 days after the last backup was processed. Backup data will be removed as specified in the retention policy of your repository.
Are the 31 days already over since you converted the mailbox to a shared mailbox?

Revoking a license before that 31 day period requires you to delete all backups of that user first. After the backups were deleted, the license can be revoked in the backup console.

Also make sure, that those Shared Mailboxes do not have a license assigned. A shared mailbox with an Exchange Online license will consume a VB365 license.

@Fabian,

Does the Shared Mailboxes without the license is not counted towards the VBM license ?

Hi Albert

Correct.
Shared Mailboxes without a Microsoft license assigned will not consume a VB365 license.
