Request to update Veeam Backup & Replication Console download when a patch is released
Hi,
I have a simple request, can the Veeam Backup & Replication Console installation in the category Additional downloads > Extensions and Other be updated once VEEAM releases a new patch?
It would help us a lot since we install the console an a stepping stone server and now I always need to provide the whole .iso to have the console updated.
Current download version is Version: 12.3.0.310
Thanks.

Hi nvdwansem
I have reached out to our teams if we can consider an update in our download center.
Stay tuned.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Request to update Veeam Backup & Replication Console download when a patch is released
Hi nvdwansem,
We have discussed this internally.
The standalone console offering in our download center will only be updated for major (e.g., v11/v12/***) and minor release versions (e.g., v12.1/v12.2/v12.3).
For minor patches such as v12.3.1, we won't provide a standalone console packages.
Instead of downloading the entire ISO, have you considered to connect once to the updated backup server? This will automatically upgrade the remote console to the new version.
(old screenshot, but it still behaves the same for v12.3.1)

Best,
Fabian

Re: Request to update Veeam Backup & Replication Console download when a patch is released
Hi Fabian,
I got the same answer from my customer success manager, I'll reply the same as I did to him.
"Not sure on how to respond to the answer the engineer gave you, but in a world of automation manually updating the console on our steppingstone environment, Citrix in our case, is not going to happen. With every new release/patch the console is packaged to be distributed, so it would really help a lot and I’m not the only one who is asking for this I saw on the forum."
The last remark was about my own post : veeam-backup-replication-f2/veeam-backu ... 92214.html

Having to mount a 7.3GB ISO to update a console is a bit much. Please please please just update the console installer.

Normally, backup console should be updated automatically upon connection to an updated backup server, so you don't need to do anything with the ISO or download its installer separately. Further benefit is if your backup server has some private fixes installed, they will also be downloaded automatically.

Re: Request to update Veeam Backup & Replication Console download when a patch is released
Hi,
The above mentioned scenario seems to me more like a workaround than a proper solution, in our use case the console is installed on Citrix servers, manually logging in to each Citrix server with local admin credentials is not feasible. Our company policy is that every application installed on Citrix needs to be properly packaged, life will be so much easier with just the console installation as source file.
I honestly don't understand why this is such a difficult request.

No individual request is difficult. It's just that there are thousands of outstanding requests and we need to choose between must have and nice to have, otherwise we will simply sink trying to do it all.

Re: Request to update Veeam Backup & Replication Console download when a patch is released
Thats cool and all, but there was a recent update that was not able to complete the installation using this method because a runtime (.net something or other) was missing and was not part of the "automatic" update. Once again, please accept these requests for what they are and do not try to trivialize what we are asking (which is exactly what some Veeam reps have a history of doing). Veeam is a wonderful product but yall have wrapped so much into installers that it makes things very difficult for restricted sign-in or slow connections.Gostev wrote: ↑Mar 28, 2025 3:36 pm Normally, backup console should be updated automatically upon connection to an updated backup server, so you don't need to do anything with the ISO or download its installer separately. Re: Request to update Veeam Backup & Replication Console download when a patch is released
That's the core of the issue and the reason why we're actively building our next-gen UI that is web-based
first version will come right with V13, with limited functionality of course as it will take some time to reimplement almost 20 years of wizards and dialogs... however, we should be able to do it faster than it took VMware to perform the same transition.
