Backup Copy Job Not Processing SQL Transaction Logs

Post by CV_VBR »

Hello,

We recently enabled Application Awareness (specifically SQL transaction log backups) and the local backups to our repository are going great. They successfully backup the logs and truncate them every 15 minutes according to our configuration. The issue we are having is that the backup copy job is not processing any of the database transaction logs. Yes, the option to do so is checked in the backup copy job. We receive the Log Backup Copy Job Success email daily, but the details state "Processed 0 B within 0 files. Warning: 0 Error: 0 Waiting for processing: 0 B within 0 files". We have another test job that I used to verify the settings/functionality prior that hits a small test DB and it works perfectly fine with the exact same settings (other than GFS). Any idea what could be the hold up? I greatly look forward to the one thing I haven't been able to figure out.

Thank you,
James

Hello,

Thank you for the suggestion. I ended up letting the backup copy job continue to run over the holiday weekend and once the next active-full backup was generated, the transaction logs began syncing to the backup copy destination. I'd say that they were processed from the active-full going forward, but it appears to have retro-synced them as well. So, I believe we are working as intended now. Thank you for the sounding board.

Best Regards,
James
