Hi,
We have currently 2 active sites (site A and site B) each with its own VBR server and repository. The management is planning to decommission site B, and merging all the backup files, backup jobs and repository to site A.
What is the best way to migrate backup files and backup jobs from the VBR server and repository from site B, to the VBR server and repository to site A?

Re: Moving backup files to another backup server and repository
Hi storageguy,
Do I get it right that the repository on Site B will be used on Site A?
If so, take Site B offline to avoid both sites using the repository at the same time (not supported, and may cause irrevocable issues with the backup chain)
Add the repository to Site A and once added rescan it to import backups.
Recreate the jobs on Site A's VBR, and then map the backups to the new jobs (step 3)

Re: Moving backup files to another backup server and repository
@david.domask, the repository on site B will not be used on site A. We are planning to migrate all backup files from site B to the repository in site A. The end result would have one repository and one VBR server in one site (site A).
I am looking the best way to do this.

Re: Moving backup files to another backup server and repository
Got it, thanks for the clarification.
I think it's mostly a question then on how it's feasible to do the transfer -- in ideal world if there's stable and fast connection between the sites, I'd still recommend power off Site B VBR completely and connect the repository to Site A VBR, and then use the "modern method" as per this KB article. Backup Move is built exactly to move backups easily between repositories.
If there isn't a fast and stable connection, use the "legacy" method from same KB article.
