Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Hi
After installing the Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch (https://www.veeam.com/kb4771) I am now wondering how to update the windows agents without manually running the agent installer on each system. Currently the agents are on version 6.3.2.1205 but there is no button in the console to update the agent, even after rescanning.
Is there a way to update the agent version rolled out by veeam b&r server?
Thanks

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Hello vitami,
The fix is automatically applied to all managed agents during a rescan. For 'Pre-installed agent' protection groups and manually managed agents you might need to follow instuctions in this KB article Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.3.2.1302 Private Fix Deployment Information. Thank you!

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
For a little clarification... Does the hotfix for B&R include a fix for version 1205? Just like the OP, I still see 1205 after the hotfix and rescans. The stand-alone installer indicates there is a version 1302.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Is there some way to validate whether/when the hotfix has been applied? Viewing "Details" from the Physical Infrastructure > Manually Added > Inventory shows the "Agent" value as 6.3.2.1205. Checking Programs and Features on the target PC also shows the version as 6.3.2.1205. I'd like to confirm that the hotfix/update has been applied - at this point, I can't be sure. Thanks.

VBR kb4771 patch and agent version
We’ve just applied the latest VBR kb4771 patch and have a question.
This KB says the fix “will be installed automatically during a rescan of the Protection Group."
https://www.veeam.com/kb4778?utm_source ... mcomkb4778
We’ve performed numerous successful rescans - how do we confirm the patch has been installed and should the agent version on the machine agents show the new 6.3.2.1302 version?
After PG rescan and even agent uninstall/reboot/reinstall the agent version remains showing 6.3.2.1205 in the machine details – is this a bug or by design?
I do see a small detail at the bottom of the details window for the VM - is this how we tell it's installed?

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
After Veeam B&R is patched and a rescan session has been performed, you can right-click any managed agent under Inventory > Protection Group, select Details from the menu, and check the agent properties for the installed fixes. The displayed fix number should be 1076569.
For standalone agents or pre-installed protection group agents, you can verify that the fix is applied by checking the registry:
Key: HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint Backup\PrivateFixes\6.3.2.1205\1076569
Property: State = 3
We will update the referenced KB article accordingly. Thank you!

https://www.veeam.com/kb4778 has been updated.
- Included information on how to verify the deployment of the private fix on machines within a Protection Group, with screenshots.
- Provided more details on the conditions needed for a rescan to automatically deploy the private fix.
- Added an explanation in the "Pre-Installed" Protection Group section about why manual deployment of the private fix is necessary.
- Inserted contextual hyperlinks to certain keywords for easier access to additional information.

[MERGED] Veeam B&R Doesn't Show Update for Agents After Patch
Hello,
I just patched Veeam Backup & Replication from version 12.3.2.3617_20250610 to version 12.3.2.4165_20251014. Normally, when I rescan the Windows agents after an upgrade, it will indicate there is a new version and I can right-click and choose Upgrade. However, this time it is not doing that. I've rescanned three agents across two different Veeam B&R servers and none of them show that a new version is available. The current version is 6.3.2.1205 and the new one should be 6.3.2.1302. Any ideas as to what I might be missing?

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Hello Tim,
As described in the KB article the fix is distributed through the patching engine, so the auto-update option must be enabled in the protection group. Once enabled, perform a protection group rescan to apply the fix. Thank you!

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Thanks Dima, I just tried it and it worked. To say the least, I don't understand why a very easy and straightforward process was changed to a very confusing one. It's confusing to see ""6.3.2.1205" when the actual version is "6.3.2.1302", not to mention not seeing the Update button on the agent.

One other question: I always have our Veeam users update the recovery USB sticks after an upgrade. Since this is just a patch, is it still needed or can the previous USB stick work?

Hello Tim,
This time we delivered it as a patch instead of minor update, so the procedure is slightly different, but we will improve it in next versions. Thank you for the honest feedback!

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Where do you download this patch? When I go to downloads, all I'm offered is the (massive) 13.5GB full ISO download? Mentioned before I think, but an official torrent download would be helpful. I've got an ETA of 4 hours to download the ISO from download2.veeam.com on a 900Mbps fibre link. It's also stopped twice and can't resume so it's taken me 2 hours so far to fail to download. On a Sunday...

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
Later... okay, I've read all over the forums and found this article: https://www.veeam.com/kb4696
There was a rather patronising comment not reading the documentation which wasn't particularly useful as it didn't even link to the documentation! All I saw was this pop-up which occurred once: https://is.gd/swNAkg. So I headed off and download the entire ISO to discover that doesn't seem to work at all. You get an option to modify and then it says another version is installed.

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
The context you're missing is that there was an email from Veeam to all users on the day of the patch release that included all documentation, and everyone came to the forum after reading said email. The update servers were not yet initialized with the patch at the time, as there's always a delay to ensure there are no common issues with the patch.
On a separate note, did you click the popup you shared? Because this should also take you directly to the above-mentioned KB.

Re: Updating agent version after installing Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.4165 Patch
I'm pretty anal about raising tickets when I get critical emails from services like Veeam so I didn't receive an email. Maybe community users didn't get it? It's entirely possible my client received one and deleted it. We all know that nobody reads emails. But clearly I raised a ticket when I saw that pop-up.
No, I didn't click on the window - why would I? There is no indication it's a link (although I might not have grabbed the entire dialog). I spent a few minutes trying to find that pop-up again (going into help etc) and failed. Therefore assumed that all I need to do is logon and download an update. On doing this I saw a new ISO so as always, I downloaded that.

If you don't click a notification, it should remain in the Notification Center. You can access it by clicking the date and time on the taskbar or by pressing Windows + N on your keyboard.
