Feature request VSA update and upgrades

Post by lowlander »

Hi Team,

feature request to upgrade Veeam Software Appliance locally (like the fix bundles).

Now we have to create a local infrastructure component that mirrors https://repository.veeam.com/vsa, which creates additional management overhead potentially uncontrolled ;)

But with one package updated every day (on average) such approach to updates is completely unrealistic even with a few VSA? And I like to think you will have many more than a few soon?

So either you will have to pay a number of people for whom it becomes their only job to patch VSAs (bad for your business) or you will no longer be updating your appliances too often (bad for your security posture). Neither is a good solution?

Could you clarify what management overhead of the local mirror are you talking about and why is it not "set and forget" situation in your case?

It is more like offline upgrades in future from 13.0 to 13.1 or 13.2. Now there is an option for bundles but not for upgrades like 13.0 to 13.0.1. For now we enable a firewall rule to allow outbound traffic to the veeam update repo when updates or upgrades are required.
