Just wanted to share something I ran into while setting up a new Veeam Backup & Replication v13 Software Appliance VM on Hyper-V (to replace our existing Windows VBR v12 VM), in case it saves someone else a bit of stress.
Last week I deployed the appliance and completed most of the configuration. However, ever since the initial setup, the Overview dashboard kept showing a failed update / warning status even though everything looked fine otherwise. I tried the usual troubleshooting to clear it (re-scanned, retried to update and did multiple reboots), but the warning wouldn’t go away.
Today, a new update became available in the Veeam Updater. After installing it, the dashboard finally went fully green and the “failed update” message disappeared. Btw I had the veeamadmin with root access this time.
So if you’re just setting up a new VBR 13 Software Appliance, don’t freak out if you see what looks like a “ghost” failed update warning on the Overview dashboard right after deployment. In my case, it didn’t clear with reboots or retries, but it did clear after the next update was released and installed. Hope that helps someone! If anyone else has seen the same behavior (or knows the underlying cause), I’d be interested to hear about it.
