Linux mount server: Cannot find supported package managers
Hello,
with Veeam B&R I wanted to add a Linux mount server for file level restore. I prepared a Debian 13 system, added it to Veeam and then I got the error: Only Rocky Linux or RHEL systems are supported. Okay, so I deleted my Debian 13 system and installed Rocky Linux 9. Now when I try to add this as a new Linux server I get "Installing OpenSSL3 package Error: Cannot find supported package managers on the Linux host" and lot of other similar errors.
I'm confused now, Veeam is requesting Rocky Linux, but it does not work with it?

Re: Linux mount server: Cannot find supported package managers
Hi Manuel,
We can’t investigate this kind of technical issue via a forum topic, as explained in our forum policy.
Please contact our Customer Support team and share the case number with us. Based on the conclusion of the case, we can then decide whether R&D is required to address the issue or not.
Alternatively, you can deploy a new VM using our Veeam Infrastructure Appliance ISO and use it as a Mount Server.
Best,
Fabian

Hi Fabian,
thanks for your reply. In that case I will use the Veeam Infrastructure Appliance ISO then.
I was just wondering that it seems like I'm the only one with this issue.

Hello, did you find a solution? We are having the very same issue, with both Rocky Linux 10.0 and 10.1. Thank you in advance for help

Re: Linux mount server: Cannot find supported package managers
Hi Danilo,
If you're trying to add a server for the Mount Server roles, only Rocky 9.6 / RHEL 9 are supported at this time. Please try with a supported distribution and if there are still issues, open a Support Case and allow Veeam Support to review the behavior.
Please share your case number once created, thanks!

Re: Linux mount server: Cannot find supported package managers
Hello, thank you for prompt answer. From this link it seems that Rocky Linux 10.0 is officially supported now, but still not working. I'm opening a support case

Re: Linux mount server: Cannot find supported package managers
Got it, though please note you linked to the Repository requirements, and topic is about Mount Server
Different roles, different requirements as you can see in our two links.
Regardless, for any technical issues, a case is required, so let's see what Veeam Support finds.

Re: Linux mount server: Cannot find supported package managers
Hello, here is the solution from the Veeam support. Many Thanks!
"Based on the error 'Cannot find supported package managers,' it appears that the installer is missing a dependency required to locate system utilities on the host.
Please log in to your Rocky Linux 10 host using the credentials configured in Veeam and run the following command to install the required utility:
sudo dnf install which
(If dnf is not available, try sudo yum install which)
Once the which package is installed, please return to the Veeam console and attempt to add or update the Linux repository again. This should allow the installer to correctly locate your package manager and proceed with the deployment."
