hi everyone,
I was unable to backup a newly build XP PRO SP2 vm yesterday. I was build using a 8gb IDE drive bus logic.
I tried both a SAN and network backup mode, both failed.
error was" Retrieving file list VM with IDE disks cannot be backed up in VCB backup mode. Please change disk type in VM's virtual hardware settings, or use network backup mode. "
Today I'm going to build another one, it will still be IDE, but this time LSI logic. I'll see if that makes a difference.
has anyone else seen this before?
We have the payed for version of Veeam backup version 3.1. everything else works great. This is the first time I've seen it fail.
Thanks,
Peter

Re: backing up IDE drives
Peter, I do remember myself writing the text for this error.
Please run the job in the Network backup mode once again, and after it fails, send all files from Help | Support information to support@veeam.com - we will investigate. As per error message, it should work fine in the Network backup mode.

Re: backing up IDE drives
My BAd,
I was not using the Network back mode after all, but SAN backup in NBD mode.
My bad!!
It backups just fine in network mode.
Peter:-)
