Fail Over Issue

Post by Michael_6835 »

Trying to failover and Re-IP

VM fails with this error message.
I try failing over another vm (windows 7) where I re-ip and that completed successfully.
What does this error mean, I've obviously got the correct connection as i'm able to failover the other vm.
So what am I missing?
Thanks

Sorry, I was hoping a quick forum note that i might have missed.

I'll keep plugging away, support can be a bit delayed in responding especially in this case, its not mission critical... I'll still open the case.

In playing around with settings, I migrated a the VM do a different host and was able to fail over successfully.

What would be the difference between hosts? Both belong to the same VCenter....

Something environmental. Logs will probably tell the reason.

[MERGED] Re-IP Failing

Post by FDR »

Has anyone encountered the below error, which i'm experiencing when trying to failover to a DR site on different network? Logs don't shed any light and i'm not clear on what the error means. A support tech tried to telnet to the host from the veeam server on 443 which failed and said that it should be able to. He then connected vsphere directly to the host which seemed to satisfy him. However perhaps this is simply a firewall issue..? Replication works no problem each night to the DR server.

22/08/2013 20:11:22 Fail Re-IP process failed. Error: 'Client error: There is no specification for the specified VI connection. Connection name: [ip of remote host].
'.

Do you have the same issue for all VMs you try to failover with Re-IP option?
