Scott, did you set the same DNS name in ESXi host settings as well?

Yes, DNS matches in ESXi.

Scott, please email all Veeam Monitor server logs to support@veeam.com for investigation. I made support aware that you are using free version, but we still would like to understand what is causing this, so you will get support. Please reference this thread just in case.

I was wondering what the fix was for this issue. I can see the hardware monitoring information if i add the servers by IP but not host name. I can ping the servers and the other tabs work fine. I am running version 4.5 free

There is a open support ticket now, and they gathered a lot of information from us, but I have not heard of a solution yet.

Can you resolve your servers with NBTSTAT -a <Servername> Just wondering if it is a lookup issue

No, that does not resolve, but I was thinking that NetBios was not running on the ESX servers... Ping does resolve correctly.

Sorry, I forgot to post feedback to this one. We cwere able to work with support to find a workaround for this. There seemed to be an issue with the naming of the esxi servers and case sensitivity. If the name on the esxi server had Capital Letters in it, Veeam Monitor would convert it to lower case when you entered it and this was causing the problem. My quick fix was to rename the servers with all lower case and everthing started working.

Support said that they would be working to patch this in the next version, but I have not tested this in 4.5 to see if the problem still exists or not.

Hope that can help some others out if you are still having a problem with this.

Confirmed!..

Change the ESXI name to smallcaps and Veeam Monitor after a while will start to show data and hardware.

From you ESXI console try:
F2 -Customize System
Configure Management Network
DNS configuration
Hostname (change it to smallcaps!)

I have the same issue but stopping the the veeam monitoring host doesn't solve my issue directly.

Do I have to restart the vmware mgmt services?

kind regards,

Ivor

Ivor, this is a pretty old thread, so could you please tell me what version of Veeam Monitor are you running? Do you have a support ticket opened with our technical team?
