Scheduled restore
Hi all,
I think could be very useful the implementation of a scheduled restore.
In our case we need to "update" the ERP's test environment every month (many gigabytes), this is very difficult to do using Powershell.
Someone thinks it could be a new feature in next releases?
Thank you
Mirko

Re: Scheduled restore
Hi Mirko,
Could you clarify the case please?
Have you considered VM cloning or replication?
Thanks

Re: Scheduled restore
Hi Shestakov,
sorry I forget to speak about the "scope".
I'm speaking about SQL Server database.
We have ad ERP farm composed by a production and a test environment.
We need to restoring the production databases every sunday overwriting the test databases to maintain the test data "updated", it takes about 5-6 hours.
Thank you

Then, the PowerShell is the way to go, and there already examples on how this process can be automated. Thanks!

Re: Scheduled restore
And together with Windows Task Scheduler they would go as a good tandem, I think

Re: Scheduled restore
Why not use replication and only replicate the disks the databases are on? Replication is faster than restore since it only replicates changed blocks.

OK,
I understand that "Powershell" is the correct way but "why" don't implement this feature in the console? (is only a question)
Thank you

Re: Scheduled restore
Hi Mirko,
I suppose because of the low demand for this feature, especially since PowerShell cmdlets cover this use-case.
Thanks

[MERGED] Schedule Recovery in a future date?
Good day
Please could you advise if there is a way to do a recovery in a FUTURE DATE?
1. What I would like to do is:Build a system with a certain criteria.
2. Allow students to work on system and do what they want.
3. Come Friday Night, recover system automatically.
Rinse and repeat...
Is this possible?
kind regards

Hi Aubrey,
I've moved your post to the existing thread.
Please take a look at the suggestions here, Powershell might work for you.
Thanks!

Re: Scheduled restore
Actually, being a bit of a novice, the entire discussion is on how to restore sql databases. I want to restore a complete machine (or machines) at a specified time in the future? Is this the same?
