Agent based backups not following the proper schedule

Post by jcofin13 »

Here is a weird one.

WE have a protection group in VB&R and it contains 2 physical workstations.

The PG is set to rescan every sunday night at 7pm

WE then have a backup job that contains just this 1 protection group. Its settings are to backup monthly on the first Saturday of every month.

If i look at the history of the job it shows its backing up weekly on sunday despite the job saying the first sunday of each month. I dont think a rescan counts as a restore point. That should just be scanning the host...not actually backing it up.

Why am i getting weekly sunday backups at 8pm despite the backup schedule saying to backup monthly on the first saturday of every month?

I must be missing something.

Hello,
That sounds like a technical issue (assuming there are no time zones involved that might cause confusion). No, rescans are not counting as restore point. Please provide a support case ID for this issue, as requested when you click New Topic.
Without case number, the topic will eventually be

Thank you,

Found it with supports help. They are synthetic fulls on the advanced area of the storage settings in the job. It was setup to do synth fulls on sundays only and 8pm must be its default time. Confusing but it makes sense now. Thanks!
