Hi,
+1
I'm glad to hear it will hopefully be in V12. We are looking forward to this option as well for a few key linux systems that are not virtualized that I'd like to run testing on.
+1 here from us as well! We currently back up several physical windows machines using the windows agent, and would love to see this functionality added to SureBackup. Those physical machines being backed up are running as local Quickbooks servers, and having the ability to boot up a backup and make sure it actually bootable automatically would be fabulous. Our alternative to this is using Datto Cloud Continuity, which allow us to boot a VM in the cloud and get a screenshot every day, letting us know that backup is actually bootable. Having this same or very similar functionality with veeam surebackup would be great since Veeam is On-Site (vs Datto CC) and many of the locations where we use Veeam Backup and Recovery it is of necessity (various physical constraints such as internet bandwidth limitations) and having this functionality would literally be a game changer for us. Currently we have to manually run an instant recovery to hyper-v every week or so to test backup. Being able to do this automatically would just be amazing.

This request is a bit premature, as at first we would need to support instant recovery of agent backups to VMware, which in turn requires P2V conversion logic with ESXi target. Today, we support this functionality with Hyper-V target only. Now, as soon as we have that, SureBackup should be almost "free" addition in terms of development effort hopefully.
As we only use hyper-v currently, if this would be relatively easy to implement with hyper-v (since Instant Recovery is already useable) it would be great if it were added to surebackup, even if those using vmware have to wait!
Looks like we still don't have an ETA on SureBackup for agent backup, according to Dima P's latest reply. Would love it if this functionality for hyper-v was available soon!
Thanks for +1, noted!
Wondering if you can share a little bit more details on your servers park:
- what is % of Windows vs Linux?
- what is % of Static IP vs Dynamic IP(including DHCP reservation)?
Hi Egor !
Sorry, i just saw your answer, i was checking if there was any news about that feature. Glad to read that it will be in v12 !
So in my environment, it is 100% Windows and 100% Static IP.
This would be very useful for private cloud machines running on a hyper-visor to which we do not have access. Using Windows Agent on those to backup but we have to manually test recovery as you can't select Windows agent jobs in Surebackup. Would also be great for small customers sites running a single physical server. We run a VBR BaaS box onsite that could be used to Surebackup(instant Recovery) to hyper-v.

Both VMware and HyperV P2V conversion is now available together with instant recovery. Now let's get the last step of SureBackup of Agent backups
I use pre installed agent on domain controller to avoid domain admin credentials are stored on my veeam server and this is complexe to use it with surebackup in parallel...
I need to set domain admin account on veeam, launch backup to DC and then remove the credentials but it can't work long time because password computer are updated each 30 days and authentication will failed
