Hello,
I'm using backup to tape for the first time..
the size of the disk backup (4 restore points) as shown in the repository folder is about 7.7 TB.
The processing rate is about 137 MB/s
The job's been running for 19h now. What I don't understand is:
- with that processing rate, why is there only 60% completed ?
- the data processed is right now 9 TB, which is bigger than the size of the backup on disk
I must be missing something
Thanks.
Eric

Re: Backup to Tape: data..processed
Hello Eric,
Can you please clarify what is the source for backup to tape job – any chance it’s a forever incremental backup job? Another question, just to be sure, are you up to date with latest Update 2?

Re: Backup to Tape: data..processed
Hi Dimitry,
The source of the backup is Incremental with the option "create synthetic full backups periodically" disable.
I'm using Veeam v8 Update 2a.
How should I set up my backup job (disk) then ?
Thanks !
Eric

Re: Backup to Tape: data..processed
Eric,
If there is no active or synthetic full backups scheduled in the source backup to disk job – backup to tape job will start spitting forever incremental backup chain with periodic virtual full backups on tape. That may explain additional processing during first backup to tape job run, here is a reference to Help Center article Virtual Full Backup
The option when to create a virtual synthetic full on tape is configurable and can be changed via tape job > media pool schedule button.
