After a bare metal restore of an image backed up from a Dell Optiplex 7040 (micro tower) to a 7070, the restore is successful until you try to boot it without the recovery media present. Not booting to the recovery media, but rather, the newly restored image on the 7070 micro tower's local HDD. The old image unfortunately is a BIOS MBR partitioned disk, which is probably part of the issue. I have the BIOS on the 7070 set up for MBR, I have the boot media on a USB that uses MBR, but I can't get it to boot without the USB flash drive plugged into it. I've tried startup repair with no luck, and tried disabling virtualization on the target. Should I try doing anything differently with the source computer before creating the backup? Any other ideas?
Many TIA,
Sam Sanders

Re: BMR Target Fails to boot unless...
Hello,
just to be clear... if the USB stick is connected, you can correctly boot to the recovered Windows on the 7070?
There are many customers struggling with BIOS / UEFI (forum search). One guy posted a solution, but you probably already checked that.
For further investigations please contact support (and post the support case number). I removed your support ID from the public forums as that ID as this one is tied to your organization (we need the support case number). Please remember, the forums are run by R&D and it's not a support forum.
Best regards,
